Having earned a reputation as one of Ireland’s finest singers and songwriters Niall McCabe has performed extensively with his folk-soul group, The Niall McCabe Band, over the past decade. Born on Clare Island, Co. Mayo, McCabe grew up in the family run pub awash with strong musical influences from traditional Irish and folk to rock and soul. It is here that Niall discovered his musical appetite and developed his distinctive style and voice.
With his debut solo album, Rituals, Niall McCabe has produced a captivating body of work. With self-effacing humour and stories told of growing up on a remote Irish island, he possesses an effortless charm and like the wild Atlantic landscape of his Clare Island home his songs feel timeless and natural, belying the dense shaping of a dynamic creative force. Deft, intricate guitar work brings a lightness to the weight of island isolation with the sound, soul and stories of McCabe’s life and experiences breathing a deep cultured sense of discernment through his vocals. His natural distinct voice is earning him a growing loyal fanbase, discovering his music as he travels extensively,
with his regular touring seeing him venturing off the Island heading across Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America. From Clare Island via New York and onto Music City aka Nashville, Tennessee, Niall has been invited to perform at legendary music clubs, on hallowed stages, in stadiums and to guest on long running Americana radio shows. As well as becoming an accomplished finger-style guitar player, Niall has been lending his unique voice to Irish trad-fusion band Beoga, touring Ireland, Europe and the USA while also playing support for Ed Sheeran, Foy Vance and Johnnyswim, and more recently opening for Chris Isaak on his UK Tour, for sold out audiences in London and Wolverhampton, and Mary Black at her sold out Olympia Theatre show in Dublin. Niall's most recent US visit saw him perform at The City Winery in New York and several showcase gigs during the week of AmericanaFest in Nashville with plans for a follow up North American tour in 2024
. And for January 2024, Niall has just announced a Celtic Connections performance at the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) in Glasgow as part of a six-date UK tour, with summer festival appearances to follow. “Most of the songs on this album were written during the pandemic here on Clare Island except for Valhalla which was left over from my last album ( had been preparing this for 2020 - but a certain virus had other ideas.) During the writing process I wanted to find voices that carried some of the isolation and anguish of that time and made a conscious effort to keep the instrumentation more sparse and less cluttered during recording. A favourite phrase of the lockdown was ‘we’re all in the same sea, but different boats’.
As an album I hope Rituals embodies this as individual songs with singular voices, but all drawn from the same well of experience and emotion.” Niall McCabe NIALL MCCABE · UK TOUR · JANUARY 2024 Sat 20 Shrewsbury The Morris Hall Sun 21 Woking Fiery Bird Mon 22 Brighton The Greys Fri 26 Glasgow CCA co-billed Celtic Connections show with Rosie H Sullivan Sat 27 Edinburgh The Speakeasy at The Voodoo Rooms Sun 28 Middlewich, Cheshire The Kings Lock For further information, interview or guest list requests please contact Geraint or Deb Jones at G Promo PR Phone: 01584 873211 • Mobile: 07855 724798 • Email: firstname.lastname@example.org • Web: www.gpromopr.com
